Food Nazi...

Sunday, May 30, 2010

Last month was my 29th birthday and yes I did have many non primal foods including my favourite cheesecake. No matter how many times recently I have had 80/20 moments I have always felt like absolute rubbish!! I somehow have managed to turn 80/20 moments into full blown eat whatever I please becuase I can, well I can't!

I haven't really gained weight but lately when I have these foods I have felt really bloated, tired, unfocused, moody, dizzy and generally just really awful.

I used to be such a food nazi and watch absoultely everything that went into my body and now I have just relaxed too much and I'm paying for it!

So I am recommiting....purely primal and if I am to have any treats it's only going to be for an actual worthy celebration as opposed to every birthday I go to or any weekend treat, I am going to get back to my food naziness as it's the only way that I feel my optimal best and that means more to me than treats, not saying it's going to be easy but it's something I need to do and it's not about weight loss anymore it's truly about feeling the best I can so I can get the most out of my life. Watch for some future recipe posts while I get 100% primal...

  1. I like the idea of eating primal and I know it works, I just find it so hard to stick to in the long term. I don't want to be super strict with what I eat but I guess I don't have a choice.

  2. Yeah I think I've come to the point that although now I've lost the weight and I can definatley not be as strict I find I it too easy to slip into bad habits so I need to be super strict that way I can keep feeling amazing!

  3. Totally agree. The 80/20 rule is good but I think I do better going 100%.

  4. I have the same problem. It's easy to get lax when you start looking better. I just keep trying to remind myself that the bad foods are truly bad for us, even if the weight stays down.

  5. Good for you! Good luck! This weekend, and friend and I were discussing the 80/20 principle. He quoted a paleo seminar he attended, "If you eat right 80% of the time, you can expect 20% of the results". It rang true in my ears. As I plateau, and still try the 80/20 principle, I just feel gross and don't continue to shed fat. Good luck to you! I look forward to some new recipes!

  6. Yeah I agree with you all, it is so easy to only eat right 80% of the time and although it is primal I do feel soo much better when I am stricter, Ben I love that quote!! Thanks guys :)

  7. I am in the same boat as you, and I am recommitting as well! My grandfather just died, and I did really well eating primally up until the day of the funeral. After the funeral I just started shoving all these little cucumber sandwiches into my mouth. I've never really done comfort eating like that before! It's been about two weeks and I've just completely fallen off the primal wagon. Starting tomorrow I'm going 100%! (Better go drink that last beer in the fridge...)

  8. Hey Tovah, sorry for the late reply, must have overlooked your comment! Sorry to hear about your grandfather, emotional eating is really common and quite hard to beat but I have to say going 100% primal is the way to go, hope your doing well :)
